Implementing DNSSEC on your own server
To enable DNSSEC, you need to perform two steps on your recursive DNS server:
enable DNSSEC validation
trust point configuration. This is done by setting a key or key fingerprint that is the top of the trust chain for all verified records. The relevant key can be obtained directly from DNS; to verify its authenticity, the administrator of the relevant domain publishes fingerprints of this key (DS records) on its website. For the .cz domain and the 0.2.4.e164.arpa domain, this trust point is the root zone key, the authenticity of which can be verified via the website IANA organization
For servers BIND and UNBOUND Enabling DNSSEC validation via the root domain key is done as follows (for the e164.arpa domain it is the same, just a different key needs to be used).
BIND
Enabling DNSSEC and DNSSEC validation is done by adding two configuration lines to the options section of named.conf:
options {
...
dnssec-enable yes;
dnssec-validation auto;
managed-keys-directory "/var/lib/named/dyn/";
...
};
There are two ways to configure the trustpoint for the root zone. If you already have BIND-9.7, add the following text to the configuration:
managed-keys {
"." initial-key 257 3 8 "AwEAAaz/tAm8yTn4Mfeh5eyI96WSVexTBAvkMgJzkKTOiW1vkIbzxeF3
+/4RgWOq7HrxRixHlFlExOLAJr5emLvN7SWXgnLh4+B5xQlNVz8Og8kv ArMtNROxVQuCaSnIDdD5LKyWbRd2n9WGe2R8PzgCmr3EgVLrjyBxWezF

RUfhHdY6+cn8HFRm+2hM8AnXGXws9555KrUB5qihylGa8subX2Nn6UwN R1AkUTV74bU=";
};
This will ensure automatic key updates if the DNSSEC key is changed using the mechanism described in RFC5011. This means that no intervention in the DNS server configuration is required when changing the key. If you have an older version of BIND-9.6, insert the following text into the configuration:
trusted-keys {
"." 257 3 8 "AwEAAaz/tAm8yTn4Mfeh5eyI96WSVexTBAvkMgJzkKTOiW1vkIbzxeF3

};
UNBOUND
Unbound has DNSSEC support enabled by default. There are three ways to configure a fixed trustpoint:
trust-anchor-file: <soubor>
A trusted key file in standard zone file format. The file can contain either DS or DNSKEY records. For a root domain, the file will have the following contents:
. 86400 IN DNSKEY 257 3 8 AwEAAaz/tAm8yTn4Mfeh5eyI96WSVexTBAvkMgJzkKTOiW1vkIbzxeF3
+/4RgWOq7HrxRixHlFlExOLAJr5emLvN7SWXgnLh4+B5xQlNVz8Og8kv ArMtNROxVQuCaSnIDdD5LKyWbRd2n9WGe2R8PzgCmr3EgVLrjyBxWezF
0jLHwVN8efS3rCj/EWgvIWgb9tarpVUDK/b58Da+sqqls3eNbuv7pr+e oZG+SrDK6nWeL3c6H5Apxz7LjVc1uTIdsIXxuOLYA4/ilBmSVIzuDWfd
RUfhHdY6+cn8HFRm+2hM8AnXGXws9555KrUB5qihylGa8subX2Nn6UwN R1AkUTV74bU=
Another option is to insert the key directly into the configuration file:
trust-anchor: <"Resource Record">
The key must be in quotes and on a single line. This configuration option can be specified multiple times in the configuration file:
trust-anchor: ". 86400 IN DNSKEY 257 3 8 AwEAAaz/tAm8yTn4Mfeh5eyI96WSVexTBAvkMgJzkKTOiW1vkIbzxeF3
+/4RgWOq7HrxRixHlFlExOLAJr5emLvN7SWXgnLh4+B5xQlNVz8Og8kv ArMtNROxVQuCaSnIDdD5LKyWbRd2n9WGe2R8PzgCmr3EgVLrjyBxWezF
0jLHwVN8efS3rCj/EWgvIWgb9tarpVUDK/b58Da+sqqls3eNbuv7pr+e oZG+SrDK6nWeL3c6H5Apxz7LjVc1uTIdsIXxuOLYA4/ilBmSVIzuDWfd
RUfhHdY6+cn8HFRm+2hM8AnXGXws9555KrUB5qihylGa8subX2Nn6UwN R1AkUTV74bU="
The last method uses a file format that is compatible with the format for the BIND 9 DNS server.
trusted-keys-file: <soubor>
The file will only contain a "trusted-keys:" section, just like if you were configuring a BIND server:
trusted-keys {
"." 257 3 8 "AwEAAaz/tAm8yTn4Mfeh5eyI96WSVexTBAvkMgJzkKTOiW1vkIbzxeF3
+/4RgWOq7HrxRixHlFlExOLAJr5emLvN7SWXgnLh4+B5xQlNVz8Og8kv ArMtNROxVQuCaSnIDdD5LKyWbRd2n9WGe2R8PzgCmr3EgVLrjyBxWezF
0jLHwVN8efS3rCj/EWgvIWgb9tarpVUDK/b58Da+sqqls3eNbuv7pr+e oZG+SrDK6nWeL3c6H5Apxz7LjVc1uTIdsIXxuOLYA4/ilBmSVIzuDWfd
RUfhHdY6+cn8HFRm+2hM8AnXGXws9555KrUB5qihylGa8subX2Nn6UwN R1AkUTV74bU=";
};
