The CZ.NIC Association has a new Chairman of the Board
The five-member team is now headed by Tomáš Košňar, who replaced Karel Taft; the latter had been Chairman of the Board for the past 15 years and did not run for re-election.
At its June meeting, the CZ.NIC Association’s Board of Directors elected its new chairman. The five-member team is now headed by Tomáš Košňar, who replaced Karel Taft; the latter had been Chairman of the Board for the past 15 years and did not run for re-election. Karel Taft shall remain in the highest executive body of the Czech national domain administrator, alongside its other members Marek Antoš (Vice-Chairman of the Board), Ilona Filípková, and Martin Kukačka.
“I accept the votes of my colleagues with humility. I have been on the Board of the Czech national domain administrator since 2010, so I am familiar not only with the Association’s activities, projects, and initiatives that have been developed at CZ.NIC, but also with the functioning of the organization’s Board. I would like to thank Mr. Karel Taft for what he has done for the Association as its long-time Chairman of the Board, and I will be honored to build on his work,” said Tomáš Košňar on the occasion of his election.
Tomáš Košňar has been part of the Czech internet community since the former Czechoslovakia connected to the Internet, at which time he worked as a computer network administrator at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. He currently works at the CESNET Association, where he specializes in network traffic monitoring and analysis and automatic defense against network attacks, for which he develops support tools. He has been a member of the CZ.NIC Association’s Board since 2010.
