CZ.NIC to change wholesale domain price next year

Until now, the wholesale price of the Czech national domain name was CZK 145 (excluding VAT), so it is an increase of CZK 15.

Starting from March 1st next year, the new wholesale price of the .CZ domain set by the CZ.NIC Association will be 160 Czech crowns (excluding VAT) for one calendar year. Until now, the wholesale price of the Czech national domain name was CZK 145 (excluding VAT), so it is an increase of CZK 15. This is the first change to be made by the CZ.NIC Association in more than six years.

“Since the last increase in the wholesale price of the .CZ domain, in 2019, cumulative inflation has exceeded 40 percent, while the increase in the number of domains has been approximately 11 percent. These figures clearly illustrate the increase in the efficiency of the Association’s activities,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC. “The change in the wholesale price of the .CZ domain is mainly due to inflation and the increased costs of operation and security.”

For domain registrars, this change will lead to adjustments in their prices for end users. These include the additional costs of running the systems and therefore tend to be higher.
