60% Growth in the Number of New .CZ Domains

The CZ.NIC association has been using a new system to register .CZ domains for half a year now.

Prague, 3 March 2008 – Within the six months from the launch of the new registration system for the .CZ domain administration the number of domains increased by 60 per cent comparing to the previous half-year. The current system enables easier and faster registration. The registration number growth has been definitely affected by prices; domains with the .CZ extension are less expensive in offerings of most registrars from the last year’s October.

“The objective of the new system was to make the .CZ domains available for as many people as possible. It is apparent now that we are succeeding in achieving this goal. We expect the number of registrations to gradually rise in the close future; the last three months definitely support this trend. We currently register about 14,000 .CZ domains per month,” explained Ondřej Filip, executive director of the CZ.NIC association.
