The ICANN Internet organization appoints Ondřej Filip as “Keeper of the Internet Key”
Tisková zpráva] Ondřej Filip became one of fourteen trusted representatives of the worldwide Internet community (Trusted Community Representatives), who have the keys to the vault that stores access data to the so-called “hardware security module”.
On May 12, a group of prominent Internet experts from around the world met at ICANN's headquarters on the East Coast (Culpeper, Virginia), in order to re-sign the so-called DNS root zone records. This time, this highly important event took place with the participation of the Czech representative Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association, who was appointed Cryptographic Officer on this occasion.
Ondřej Filip thus became one of fourteen trusted representatives of the worldwide Internet community (Trusted Community Representatives), who have the keys to the vault that stores access data to the so-called “hardware security module”, the initiation of which is necessary for the whole process of signing the root zone. Ondřej Filip is replacing Olaf Kolkman of the Netherlands, who has held this position since 2010.
“I am very happy to have received the trust of ICANN, the people who basically govern the Internet at the highest level, and to become a member of the international Trusted Community Representatives group. At the same time, it is an immense honor for me to take on such a responsible position as the Cryptographic Officer and to become a part of the highest international Internet structures. I also perceive my appointment as a reward for the CZ.NIC Association, whose activities are very well received in the global Internet community,” commented Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.
