The mojeID service now offers verification at the level of assurance “high”
Activation of the level of assurance “high” requires the use of a user password and a physical security key with FIDO certification of the minimum level L2 and with a set PIN code. Currently, the only such key is GoTrust IdemKey, which is available also in the Czech Republic, through the CZC.cz online store.
Users of the mojeID service operated by the CZ.NIC Association now have the option to verify their account at the level of assurance “high”. This will give them access to all e-government services, including those that require the highest level of security. These include, for example, the creation and administration of an asset account or the online purchase of government bonds. There are now almost 40,000 mojeID users who have their account linked to the National Identification Authority (NIA).
Activation of the level of assurance “high” requires the use of a user password and a physical security key with FIDO certification of the minimum level L2 and with a set PIN code. Currently, the only such key is GoTrust IdemKey, which is available also in the Czech Republic, through the CZC.cz online store. Another condition is to verify your identity through Czech POINT or another means at this level of assurance (for example, eObčanka or Starcos card issued by I.CA).
“We have been intensively working on the implementation of the “high” assurance level for the last few months and I am very pleased to announce that our efforts were successful. We believe that FIDO security keys are more convenient to use than smart cards, which are currently required at this level, while the level of security provided is comparable. So the mojeID service is marching on towards its goal of becoming the most versatile Czech digital identity service,” said Jaromír Talíř, technical partner of CZ.NIC.
Current mojeID users who have their account secured with the corresponding physical key can turn on the “high” assurance level in their account settings. Here, it is necessary to allow access for the level of assurance “high”, set the PIN according to the instructions and verify the identity through Czech POINT or Eobčanka. If the user has already undergone identity verification at Czech POINT in the past, they will receive information on how to proceed by e-mail, and do not have to visit Czech POINT again.
Users who are interested in changing the level of assurance to “high” and have not yet used the corresponding FIDO security key to secure their mojeID account must first connect this key to the account and then get verified at a Czech POINT or using other means mentioned above.
