The CZ.NIC offers its assistance to the government: easy access to the eGovernment with the mojeID
For 10 years, CZ.NIC has been providing the electronic identity service mojeID, whose users can now, among other things, link their accounts with the National Identification Authority (NIA) and thus use the state’s electronic services.
CZ.NIC Association, the Czech national domain administrator, is coming up with a solution that would, in the current epidemiological situation, allow citizens to communicate with state administration bodies online, safely and effectively. For 10 years, CZ.NIC has been providing the electronic identity service mojeID, whose users can now, among other things, link their accounts with the National Identification Authority (NIA) and thus use the state’s electronic services. Therefore, the independent association CZ.NIC offered to the government of the Czech Republic its assistance, which would help speed up the spread of use of eGovernment services in the Czech Republic.
Only a small number of citizens in the Czech Republic have a verified digital identity, which allows them to use the state’s electronic services, such as the citizen’s portal, the cadaster of real estate or the social security administration system. The CZ.NIC Association, whose main mission is the administration of the Czech national domain, which it has been taking care of for more than 20 years, would like to change this situation with the support of the government. The mojeID service is a proven and fully functional solution that can significantly facilitate the communication of the citizens of the Czech Republic with the authorities – especially now, when direct contacts between citizens and officials are not entirely desirable.
“I believe that it is our common goal during these times to enable as many citizens of the Czech Republic as possible to access the services of the state comfortably and safely from home. Therefore, our association offers a long-standing and proven solution in the form of the mojeID service, which is provided to the public free of charge,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC association. “It is increasingly difficult for the state administration to provide state services to citizens in full. The opening hours at the offices are reduced to the necessary minimum in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, and citizens communicate with the authorities only in matters of the utmost importance, which can have a negative effect on the performance of basic functions of the state.”
The mojeID service has now almost 700,000 accounts. Its users can log in to hundreds of online services, including the access to the NIA system. The mojeID service is also used by local governments, as recently shown by the city of Říčany, which launched its citizen’s portal with the option to verify identity through the mojeID service.
More information about the mojeID service, its technical solution, registration or the procedure for connecting to the NIA system can be found on the website of the service.

“The CZ.NIC Association offers the Government of the Czech Republic a functional and accredited solution for electronic identification – the mojeID service. Reduction of public offices’ visiting hours is currently a major obstacle, especially for those who turn to the state for example with applications for support programs (COVID rent, etc.). It is these people for whom online communication has never been more vital. Therefore, CZ.NIC offers the Czech government assistance not only in the promotion of online state services, but also help of CZ.NIC specialists with the implementation of electronic identity means in various agenda systems of specific state and self-government bodies,” says Jaromír Novák, who is in charge of communication of the CZ.NIC Association with the state administration. “At the same time, we have knowledge that can help simplify the validation process at Czech Post or make processes accessible with the help of databox. In addition, there is also the possibility of state-organized distribution of tokens among low-income or otherwise vulnerable persons. A specific category is the amendment of legislation concerning, for example, the Act on the Prevention of Legalization of Proceeds from Criminal Activity and Terrorist Financing. We believe that our common goal is for eGovernment services to be used by as many citizens of this country as possible. That is why we offer cooperation in the form of the mojeID service, which is coincidentally celebrating its 10th anniversary – the 10 years of successful operation.”
