CZ.NIC Publications have released an updated edition of the book IPv6 by Pavel Satrapa, a university lecturer and a respected expert on this Internet protocol. In this new publication, readers will find a description of the current status of the relevant specifications, including new basic definitions contained in RFC 8200. The PDF electronic version of the book is available for free download at http://knihy.nic.cz, and the printed version can be purchased from most booksellers.
The first edition of the book was released by the Czech domain administrator in 2002, and to this day, it remains one of the most demanded titles. The book, spanning almost 470 pages, thoroughly familiarizes the reader with the basic principles of IPv6, including its supporting and accompanying elements. In addition to the general introduction describing the capabilities of the protocol, the author discusses its implementations on selected platforms and suggests some recommendations for practical use.
“In cooperation with registrars and web hosting service providers, for almost a decade we have been putting intensive efforts into the deployment of the IPv6 protocol for Internet services in the Czech Republic. We are pleased that last year, the deployment rate of this protocol for web servers within the Czech national domain exceeded 31 percent, while for e-mail servers it was 19 percent and for DNS servers even 75 percent. At the same time, the CZ.NIC association participates in the promotion of IPv6 in the state administration. Considering all that, we are glad that the updated edition of the book by Pavel Satrapa could be again published in our publication series,” says Václav Steiner, head of the system administrators of the CZ.NIC association.
The topic of the IPv6 protocol is addressed also by the educational center of the Czech national domain administrator, CZ.NIC Academy. Those who are interested can take the Basics of IPv6 e-course and then continue with the Advanced IPv6 course, where they can test their knowledge in practice. All detailed information about both courses is available on the website akademie.nic.cz.
