CZ.NIC association to present a new project as part of the international Safer Internet Day
From the beginning, the new project has also involved the Child Helpline, which, thanks to this partnership, will be able to increase its capacities to include cases of cyberbullying, sexting or luring on dangerous meetings.
The Czech National Domain Administrator, CZ.NIC, announced on the occasion of Safer Internet Day a launch of a new project, by which it takes over the coordination of national activities aimed at improving the online safety of children in the Czech Republic. This project was created thanks to the support of the European Commission through the Connecting Europe Facility and is a follow-up to the Safer Internet project, which ended in December last year.
“With this new activity, we build on successful projects, including the building and operation of the illegal content reporting line STOPonline.cz, cooperation on the How to Use the Internet educational series or the books ON-LINE ZOO and How to Use the Internet, Safely. As part of the new project, we would like to create a network of collaborating institutions dealing with risky behavior on the Internet, counseling and education in this area,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC.
From the beginning, the new project has also involved the Child Helpline, which, thanks to this partnership, will be able to increase its capacities to include cases of cyberbullying, sexting or luring on dangerous meetings. The project also plans for cooperation with other partners, which will be introduced gradually together with specific activities.
“We will continue to operate the STOPonline.cz line and carry out awareness-raising and educational activities. Our aim is to develop methodological materials that will be designed not only for teachers but also for parents. We will try to reach out to the young generation through social networks as well as with the help of influencers. The first key output from the project to be followed by other activities will be presented at the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in May,” adds the project coordinator Martin Kožíšek.
Further information related to the new project and activities of CZ.NIC were presented at a press conference of the Regions for Safer Internet (KPBI) project, which was held on February 4.
