A new title has been published by the CZ.NIC Publications: How to Use the Internet, Safely. The book is a loose continuation of the educational series How to Use the Internet and the comic book of the same name. The texts were written by a group of authors led by scriptwriter Jiří Vaněk, drawings were created by Aneta Biskupová, illustrator of the CZ.NIC Association. In the twelve stories, comic book fans have the opportunity to look at safety in the world of the Internet from multiple points of view. The book was published as part of the Safer Internet project co-financed by Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union. The PDF version of the book is available for free download at https://knihy.nic.cz, and the printed version can be purchased from most booksellers.

The twelve stories spanning a hundred pages show the comic book heroes facing the rigors of the information highway. They learn not only to protect the computer itself, but also to encrypt the entire communication. They grapple with the spreading extremism and illegal content on the Internet. They have to use common sense to judge the relevance of the information published. Or try to fight Internet addiction. Last but not least, they also try not to fall victim to cyber grooming.

“Due to the ever-expanding threats, which the Internet users must face, the process of creation of the comic book sequel subtitled ‘Safely’ was joined by the Safer Internet project, whose main task is to spread awareness about safer use of this worldwide network. This cooperation gave birth to a comprehensive publication, which explains in an informal way how to avoid the consequences of irresponsible Internet behavior, to children and adults alike,” Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC, comments on the book.

The educational series How to Use the Internet is a joint project of the Czech Television and the CZ.NIC Association, the administrator of the Czech national domain. Currently it has 115 episodes and two years ago, it was published in a book form. Its mission is to inform the public about various Internet-related issues.
