IGNUM is a new registrar of ENUM domains in the Czech Republic

CZ.NIC, the administrator of the national domain CZ, recently signed two contracts with new ENUM domains registrars.

CZ.NIC, the administrator of the national domain CZ, recently signed two contracts with new ENUM domains registrars. After KRAXNET, IGNUM, a leading domain registrar and web-hosting provider in the Czech Republic, has also become a new ENUM domain registrar.

The ENUM system enables the users of any telephone number to register a special Internet domain relating to the number with information how this number may be called through the Internet. The numbers with ENUM domains may then be called free of charge through the Internet regardless of the telecommunication operator network to which the number belongs (including foreign networks). The registration of ENUM domains will commence in late September 2006. The CZ.NIC association published the terms and conditions for ENUM registrars and the time schedule for the launch of the ENUM system in early July.

„We are pleased to announce that another Czech registrar has decided to offer the registration of ENUM domains to its customers,” commented Ondřej Filip,” director of CZ.NIC association in response to the contract conclusion. “I believe that more registrars will follow the suit, joining the development of a new, promising IP telephony technology via the ENUM system.”

The registration of ENUM domains will require an adjustment to our registration system, but we will be prepared to offer the ENUM domains to our customers as soon as CZ.NIC launches the registration process”
