The CZ.NIC association, which manages the CZ national domain, signed an agreement with ICANN during the 2006 Internet Governance Forum held in Athens, Greece. This agreement establishes a formal basis for cooperation between CZ.NIC and ICANN, and facilitates further improvements in the stability, security and interoperability of the Domain Name System (DNS).
The agreement with ICANN confirms the role of CZ.NIC in maintaining name servers for the CZ domain, generating the CZ domain zone, and ensuring a stable Domain Name System that cooperates with the global Internet Domain Name System.
“We have recently signed a memorandum with the Czech Ministry of Informatics, and the agreement made between CZ.NIC and ICANN further formally confirms the role of CZ.NIC as the CZ national domain manager and, at the same time, it is a kind of appreciation of our work,” says Ondřej Filip, Director of CZ.NIC. “The agreement formalizes obligations of both parties, and by fulfilling these we are going to ensure smooth and flawless operation of the Internet Domain Name System.”
