CZ.NIC Association Represents the Czech Republic in the INHOPE international Association
The threat of illegal online content, particularly child pornography, goes beyond the capabilities of individual states. That is why a close cooperation is absolutely crucial between all bodies that can help in this matter.
Prague, June 14, 2017 – Today, the CZ.NIC Association became a member of the INHOPE International Association. This organization brings together European operators of national hotlines dealing with illegal content online. The administrator of the Czech national domain has been running this service since last July. In connection with this project, in February this year CZ.NIC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Center against Organized Crime (NCOZ).
Operation of the Czech national line is ensured through the SIC CZ project supported by the European Commission as part of the Connecting Europe Facility.
The threat of illegal online content, particularly child pornography, goes beyond the capabilities of individual states. That is why a close cooperation is absolutely crucial between all bodies that can help in this matter. Through the CZ.NIC Association as its representative, the Czech Republic as a member of INHOPE gains access to the international IC-CAM (I See Child Abusing Material) database intended for the rapid exchange of information on illegal online content depicting abused children.
The main benefit provided by the IC-CAM database is the close cooperation with international security services such as INTERPOL and EUROPOL and the contractual cooperation of each member organization on reporting illegal content with law enforcement authorities located in the place of the server with the illegal content.
“As part of the further development of the Czech national hotline, we are planning to launch a new website and to present a mobile application for reporting illegal content in a user-friendly form, while complying with all privacy policies,” added Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC.
Based on an assessment of the hotline operation, the administrator of the Czech national domain is planning to become a full member of the INHOPE Association, thus becoming a suitable player of the prestigious cyber security team. CZ.NIC is already actively involved in its activities primarily thanks to the membership in the organizations such as TF-CSIRT and FIRST.
