Registrars given access to new domain registering system

The CZ.NIC association, administrator of the .cz domain, continues its preparation for the migration to the new registration system, to be deployed from November 1st. Another step in the process was the migration of the present content of the .cz domain database from T-Systems PragoNet, a.s., a outsourcing administrator of the .cz domain, into the testing version of the new registration system and provision of access to all .cz domain registrars. Registrars now have a unique opportunity to test the new registration system on real-time data and simulate cooperation with their own systems during all operations.

The new registration and administration system for the .cz domain was developed and is administered by CZ.NIC employees. Starting on November 1st, 2007, they will take over all responsibility from the existing outsourcing partner, T-Systems PragoNet. The change is being implemented for strategic reasons, its main advantages include higher efficiency and significantly lower costs.

„Registrars of .cz domains who also register ENUM domains have already been working with the new system. We have changed some system functions based on their comments,“ said Martin Peterka, CZ.NIC's Operational Manager. „We have now given access to the testing environment of the new system, with real-time .cz domain data, to all registrars, so that they can prepare for the deployment of the new registration system on time.“

The new .cz domain registration system also brings simplified registration rules and some changes to the registered domains' data model. All registrars of the .cz domain names will have to adapt their existing internal registration systems so that they are compatible with the new registration system.

„The preparation of the migration to the new registration system is on time, full access to the testing environment is another step towards its successful completion,“ adds Ondřej Filip, the Executive Director of CZ.NIC. „The migration to the new .cz domain name registration system will require certain investment from all registrars. On the other hand, the new registration rules and the lower wholesale price of .cz domain name registration will be a positive change for them.“

Further information on the migration of the .cz domain name registration to the new system will be regularly published at http://www.nic.cz.
