Verification of Contact Information for CZ Domains Continues
CZ.NIC technical support employees receive an average of 40 phone calls daily from domain owners and also send out about 150 E-mails requesting corrections to contact information.
The CZ.NIC Association, which is the administrator for national .CZ domain addresses, has announced that an average of 1,100 users visit the http://migrace.nic.cz webpage each week and use the tool provided for verifying the contact information on file for .CZ domain names. Domain owners who do not have their contact information in order also contact the association by telephone or E-mail.

“The verification of contact information for .CZ domain is continuing successfully. We are glad that domain owners are aware of the need to maintain updated contact information accurately. Generally speaking, a large number of changes are being made. Over the first six months of this year, .CZ domain owners made an average of 18,000 corrections to contact information every month,” according to Martin Peterka, CZ.NIC Association Operational Director. “We regularly try to contact other domain users who do not have their information in order and offer them assistance in making the corrections.”
It is of utmost importance to update the contact and other information on file for .CZ domains whenever any changes occur. Otherwise, domain owners could run into problems when renewing their registration and performing transfers or any other transactions with their domains. The CZ.NIC Association cannot change any information pertaining to domains of its own accord. It must always act on the basis of authorization furnished by the domain owner or supporting documentation it receives from the applicable registrar.
“Out-of-date information for registered domains cannot in any way slow down or endanger the preparations for converting to the new registration system, which will become operational as of this October 1. All domains will be transferred to the new system, without regard to any inaccuracies that might exist in the information on file,” added Ondřej Filip, CZ.NIC Association Acting Director. “Nevertheless, now is the right time to verify the contact information on file for domains, primarily with regard to some changes in the registration system and registry rules.”
New system for .CZ domain administration
The new system for registering and administering .CZ domains will be released on October 1, 2007. Starting on that date, the rules for registering .CZ domains will become even simpler and the wholesale price for registration will become lower. The decrease in the wholesale price will lead to a high level of efficiency in administering the .CZ domain thanks to the implementation of the new registration system, which has been fully developed by the CZ.NIC Association and will be administered directly by it.
Further details on the transfer of .CZ domain administration to the new system will be regularly published on the CZ.NIC Association’s website at http://www.nic.cz.
