The CZ.NIC Association, the administrator of the national domain CZ, will organise an ENUM Day Conference on Wednesday, 12 September. Not only professionals, but also those interested in modern Internet technology can come to the Galerie Louvre on Národní třída in Prague. Presentations and discussions of the still new ENUM technology will take place here from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Through the ENUM Day Conference we would like to address first and foremost those interested in modern information technology, but also, for instance, the representatives of firms that want to optimise their telephone expenses. The ENUM system will be presented not only by the experts responsible for the development of the ENUM technology in the Czech Republic, but also by those in other European states," said Ondřej Filip, Executive Director of the CZ.NIC Association. "The capacity of the conference is limited and those interested should therefore reserve a seat as soon as possible through the registration website we launched today," added Ondřej Filip.

Those interested will find further information on the ENUM Day Conference, including the detailed program, at the address of the registration website http://enum.nic.cz/enumday.

The price of a ticket to the all-day ENUM Day Conference is 200 CZK.

ENUM in the Czech Republic
The CZ.NIC Association launched the ENUM system for commercial operation on 22 January this year and in the Czech Republic so far there are almost 2,683 registered ENUM domains, which represent more than 556,000 telephone numbers. This number of domains ranks the Czech Republic among the largest registers of ENUM domains in the world. There are 11 registrars registering ENUM domains and ENUM is supported in the networks of the telecommunications operators IPEX, CESNET, CL-NET and NETWAY. Several more are preparing to support calls with the aid of ENUM. At present the European countries using the ENUM system include Austria, Germany, Poland, Finland, Romania and Ireland and test operation is running in several further states. The ENUM national domain is delegated in practically all European countries.

About the ENUM system
The ENUM system utilises the advantages of ordinary and IP telephony and enables users of both fixed and mobile telephone numbers to register a special ENUM domain for their number with information on how to call this number through the Internet. It is then possible to phone numbers with an ENUM domain free of charge on the Internet, regardless of the network of which telephone operator the number is situated in (including foreign networks). The ENUM system is already working in some neighbouring states (such as Germany and Austria) and the Ministry of Informatics has entrusted the CZ.NIC Association with its introduction and administration in the Czech Republic. More information about the ENUM system is available at the Internet address: http://enum.nic.cz
