CZ.NIC Association Works with Czech TV on a New Program Teach Your Aunt about the Internet

The educational program Teach Your Aunt about the Internet, the first episode of which will be broadcast today, is a fun way to teach children aged 9 to 12 about the Internet, Internet technologies and online security.

Prague, March 14, 2016 – The CZ.NIC Association, administrator of the Czech national domain, together with the Czech TV launches a new educational project related to Internet and Internet technologies. The educational program Teach Your Aunt about the Internet, the first episode of which will be broadcast today, is a fun way to teach children aged 9 to 12 about the Internet, Internet technologies and online security. The first episode called A Dangerous Meeting will focus on the issue of online dating and its risks. Teach Your Aunt about the Internet is the second program authored by CZ.NIC that the viewers of the Czech TV can watch. Since 2012, the main public medium has broadcast the successful program How to Use the Internet.

“One of our main goals is awareness-raising in the field of the Internet and Internet technologies. We are well aware that Internet related issues are not easy to grasp and it might be difficult to present them properly to the general public. That is why in 2012 we embarked on the project How to Use the Internet, which has become a success in terms of rating and hopefully also in terms of its execution. That is why we have launched another educational project in cooperation with the Czech TV – the Teach Your Aunt about the Internet series,” said Ondřej Filip, the executive director of CZ.NIC.

The Teach Your Aunt about the Internet series will have 16 episodes and the Czech TV will broadcast it every Monday at 3:20 PM on the D channel. The main characters of the series are the boy Ondra and his aunt, whom her nephew tries to introduce to the Internet world, its benefits and traps. The individual episodes will focus for example on cyberbullying, online shopping and payments or e-learning.

The projects How to Use the Internet and Teach Your Aunt about the Internet are not the only awareness-raising activities of the Czech national domain administrator. Among others are for example publishing specialized books in the CZ.NIC Publications series, operating the education center CZ.NIC Academy or organizing the Internet and Technology conferences.
