Prague, March 25, 2015 – Worldwide leaders of the ICT field will meet in Prague this July (19 - 24). The international summit of Internet community specialists united under the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) returns to the Czech capital after four years. The IETF is one of the main pillars of the today’s Internet — it provides a platform for voluntary cooperation of experts who create the rules and specifications necessary to maintain stability and development of the global computer network. Hosts of the Prague meeting are CZ.NIC, the administrator of the Czech national domain, and the American technology company Brocade. The IETF organizes such meetings three times a year and their hosts are major companies in the field of ICT.
“The opportunity to participate in the organization of such an important event is a great honor for CZ.NIC. After the IETF meeting in 2011, the following year we were also put to the test when holding a meeting of ICANN, and now you can see that we have established ourselves as a reliable partner for the global community,” says Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.
A key element in the functioning of the IETF is the institution of working groups. The task of these groups is to provide a detailed documentation and a set of recommendations for every issue, to make a positive contribution to the Internet community worldwide.
CZ.NIC has its active agents within the IETF. For example, Ondřej Surý, the head of CZ.NIC Laboratories, used to be a chairman of the WG Dane working group that dealt with possibilities of saving and validation of certificates in DNS. CZ.NIC also has in its ranks two authors of RFC (Request For Comments – technical standards issued by the IETF): Ladislav Lhotka, who is together with Ondřej Surý also a member of the CZ.NIC Laboratories, is signed under the document No. 6110. The head of the CZ.NIC Laboratories is the author of RFC 6594.
