The CZ.NIC Publications releases a book on LibreOffice Writer

This is the 9th publication issued as a part of the CZ.NIC Publications project. Its author is a well-known promoter of open source solutions, Vlastimil Ott. The book is not a mere user’s manual, but a comprehensive introduction to working with the open source text editor.

Prague, December 15 – LibreOffice is used by roughly 50 million users worldwide and by hundreds of thousands users in the Czech Republic. Those include mainly public institutions, educational facilities and also enterprises, which could make use of the new book on LibreOffice Writer that has just been released by the CZ.NIC Association, the administrator of the Czech national domain. This is the 9th publication issued as a part of the CZ.NIC Publications project. Its author is a well-known promoter of open source solutions, Vlastimil Ott. The book is not a mere user’s manual, but a comprehensive introduction to working with the open source text editor. The electronic version of the book is available for free along with our previously released books at https://knihy.nic.cz. There, users can also order a printed copy for 399 Czech crowns; when ordering while using IPv6, the price is lowered by 50 crowns.

”At the beginning of 2014, I posted an article in my blog, in which I announced my intention to publish a book dedicated to LibreOffice. Two things led me to it: the manuscript of a book on OpenOffice.org in my drawer and the persistent absence of an up-to-date book on the subject. I got a bunch of positive reactions on my announcement and, even more importantly, I found a respected publisher quite quickly,” says the book’s author Vlastimil Ott.

“It has been a while since we started educating Internet users in the Czech Republic and we are delighted to offer a book so much desired by a number of fans of the open source text editor LibreOffice Writer. Vlastimil Ott is an experienced lecturer and a promoter of open source software a skillful LibreOffice user. Owing to that, the readers will enjoy not only an elaborated explanation, but also practical advice on how to use the functionality of LibreOffice Writer to the fullest,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.

CZ.NIC Publications is one of the many educational projects of the Czech national domain administrator. The aim of this project is to publish both expert and popular publications associated with the Internet and its technologies.

The first publication issued in 2008 was the second edition of the popular book by Pavel Satrapa “IPv6” (you can now find its third edition at the CZ.NIC Publications website). This was followed by the books “Pro Git” by Scott Chacon, “Dive into Python 3” by Mark Pilgrim, “The Wonderful World of Electronic Signatures” by Jiří Peterka, “Producing Open Source Software” by Karel Fogel, “The Internet as an Object of Law” by Ján Matejka and “Own Your Space” by authors Linda McCarthy and Denise Weldon-Siviy.
