The mojeID Service Now Has 300,000 Users
The service has been in operation since the autumn of 2010, and the last 100,000 accounts have been added since May of 2013.
Prague, 23 January 2014 – The mojeID service, which allows users to store their personal data in one secure location and keep them up-to-date, registered its 300,000th user today. The service has been in operation since the autumn of 2010, and the last 100,000 accounts have been added since May of 2013. Operated by the CZ.NIC Association, the administrator of the Czech national domain, mojeID is free of charge to users. For example, the mojeID service can now be used to purchase tickets online for Student Agency coaches and RegioJet trains or to reserve books at the Municipal Library in Prague.
In the past year, the mojeID service was expanded to include several important new features and changes, one of the most prominent being the redesign of the website at www.mojeid.cz. The new layout, selected to bring the site’s design in line with modern trends and enhance readability, also introduced new functions.
“In terms of functionality, the homepage has the most changes; the dominant feature is with a menu that’s easier to navigate and a main rotating banner. The banner informs users about the greatest benefits of mojeID: secure login to many internet services without the need to remember dozens of username/password combinations, easier and faster utilization of new services and full user control over information that is shared”, says Ondřej Písek, the marketing director of the CZ.NIC Association. “A brand new part of the website is a catalogue of services that support logging in with mojeID.”
The mojeID service also recently expanded the number of locations where users can validate their account. Apart from Prague, mojeID accounts can now also be verified at the Moravian Library in Brno and the Technical University Library in Liberec.
The mojeID service is being adopted with greater frequency by municipalities and cities. It offers them a good tool for verifying the identity of citizens and voters in referendums and polls organised by local authorities. MojeID is used for these purposes in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, Hořice v Podkrkonoší, Úvaly and Mariánské Lázně.
MojeID is also widely deployed in online media. MojeID accounts can be used to log in to the websites of the Nova TV group (CET 21), including the magazines Nova.cz, tn.cz, Doma.cz and Krásná.cz , as well as the online video store Voyo.cz. The safe and secure login provided by mojeID is also offered in discussions on the news websites of Mladá fronta, Internet Info, Economia, Tiscali Media and Extra Publishing. And last but not least, the service is also used by the largest Czech publishing system, Blog.cz.
Validated mojeID accounts can also be used on community portals. The latest addition to their number is Hlídačky.cz, which helps users find trustworthy babysitters. Thanks to mojeID, the portal can guarantee parents that all babysitters have a verified identity and contact details. Another internet portal that recently began using the mojeID system is Nevyhazujto.cz, which enables users to donate unneeded items or get things for free just by picking them up from the donor.
Anyone interested in introducing mojeID can take part in the half-day Implementing mojeID course offered by the CZ.NIC Academy. The course will teach you how to efficiently deploy the mojeID service and answer any technical questions.
