The mojeID Service Surpasses the Quarter Million Mark
MojeID is free of charge for users, who will most often encounter it on the websites of online stores and media or community servers.
Prague, 15 October 2013 – As of yesterday, the mojeID service, which allows secure login to various web services with a single universal combination of user name and password, has more than 250,000 registered accounts. MojeID is operated by the CZ.NIC Association, the maintainer of the Czech national domain. The main benefits of the service are simple registration and login, verified contact details of its users and the security of stored data. MojeID is free of charge for users, who will most often encounter it on the websites of online stores and media or community servers. The CZ.NIC Association has been operating this service since 26 October 2010.
“Our numbers show that mojeID is becoming increasingly popular among community web services that need to verify their users to do their job. Examples of such services are Jízdomat.cz and VotočVohoz.cz. MojeID is of course also commonly used by e-shops. The best known include CZC.cz, Parfums.cz and Mironet.cz; mojeID is now supported by thousands of stores. The service is also used by internet media houses as well as towns and villages. For them, mojeID is a good tool for verifying the identity of citizens and voters in referendums and polls organised by local authorities. For example, the service has been implemented for this purpose in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, Droužkovice and Hořice v Podkrkonoší,” adds Ondřej Písek, the marketing director of the CZ.NIC Association.
About the mojeID service
MojeID is a service that allows Czech internet users to use one set of identification data (username and password) to log in to different websites and web services. Using mojeID means you do not always have to create a new account and go through long and complicated registration processes over and over again. The service also allows storing information about account holders in a single safe location where it is always up-to-date. MojeID can be used for all services whose operators directly support the mojeID service or at least OpenID technology. The implementation of mojeID is not difficult and does not carry any significant costs. In cases of e-shops built on open-source solutions such as PrestaShop, Drupal or Joomla, operators can deploy implementation modules that are being developed directly by the mojeID team. The service is provided free of charge to the internet public. More information about this service, in operation from 26 October 2010, is available at the internet address www.mojeid.cz.
