Ondřej Filip Re-Elected Member of UN Secretary General’s Advisory Body

For many years, the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) has been the UN Secretary General’s advisory body for the Internet Governance Forum which will take place this year in Baku, Azerbaijan in early November.

Ondřej Filip, Executive Director of the CZ.NIC Association, was elected to serve for two more years in the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG), which has for many years been the UN Secretary General’s advisory body for the Internet Governance Forum. Ondřej Filip has been elected to this advisory group for the third time; his first term started in 2008. Within the MAG organisation, individual members carry out work to benefit the Internet community throughout the world without any financial compensation.

The members of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group represent the interests of governments, the private sector, and civil society, including the academic and technical communities, from all regions of the world. The goal of MAG is to assist and give recommendations to the UN Secretariat, headed by the Secretary General, in preparation for the top summit on Internet governance – the Internet Governance Forum. The Multistakeholder Advisory Group meets officially several times a year. Representatives of relevant intergovernmental organisations and the European Commission are also invited to attend MAG meetings on a regular basis. This year’s seventh meeting of the Internet Governance Forum will take place from 6 to 9 November in Baku, Azerbaijan.
