CZ.NIC reports 900,000 registered .CZ domains

Domain number 900,000 was recorded at 16:12:14.

Prague, 13 February 2012 – The CZ.NIC Association, the administrator of the .CZ domain, recorded the domain with serial number 900,000 today at 16:12:14. Around 10,000 domains are registered with the Czech national suffix each month. In all likelihood, the one-millionth .CZ domain can be expected by the end of the year.

“We recorded domain number 800,000 on 13 May 2011, exactly eight months ago. Taking the long-term trend into consideration, it is therefore highly likely that the one-millionth domain will be recorded this year. Approximately 10,000 domains are registered each month. This trend has been in place for nearly five years, more precisely since October 2007 with the full implementation of our own FRED registration system,” said Ondřej Filip, the executive director of the CZ.NIC Association. "It is symbolic that the registration came just at the day when the Czech Republic celebrate 20 years since it was connected to the Internet."
