Ondřej Filip, CEO

Ondřej Filip Ondřej studied Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University and University of Pittsburgh - Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business (MBA). During his studies at Charles University he started working for the company IPEX a.s. Later he became a Technical director and a member of the board there. Ondřej has been a CEO of the CZ.NIC Association since December 2004. Regarding his duties in CZ.NIC, Ondřej acts as a chairman of the NIX.CZ Association Board (Neutral Internet Exchange), an executive board member of the RIPE NCC International Association and a board member of the Euro-IX Association (European Internet Exchange Association). He is also a chairmain of the board of DNS OARC (The Domain Name System Operations Analysis and Research Center). He was a member of the ccNSO council (Country Code Names Supporting Organisation) at ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers); where he is now a member of the important and prestigious Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). In 2022, the ICANN organization named Ondřej Filip "the Cryptographic Officer", so he is one of 14 trusted representatives of the international Internet community who oversee the process of signing root zone records. Ondřej Filip also worked in the Multistakeholder Advisory Group, an advisory body to the UN Secretary-General for the Internet Governance Forum, as well as in the organization DNS-OARC (The Domain Name System Operations Analysis and Research Center), where he presided over the Board of Directors for four years. Ondřej Filip has been a member of the Cybersecurity Hall of Fame since 2019, where are represented personalities who have influenced cybersecurity in the Czech Republic in a significant or long-term positive way. Ondřej's hobbies are: basketball, travelling or programming of open source software. Ondřej is fluent in English, he also speaks German and Russian.

Martin Peterka, COO

Martin Peterka Martin Peterka is a Deputy Managing Director of the CZ.NIC Association. Martin studied Automated Control Systems at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - Technical University in Kosice. After his studies he worked in VSŽ Informatika, developing a production control information system. During 1999-2003, he managed a CZ domain administration project in KPNQwest Czechia, a company that secured the CZ domain operation for the CZ.NIC Association. Martin has been working for the CZ.NIC Association since 2003 and is responsible for every-day flawless operation of the CZ domain names registry, supervises work of customer support operators and helps to solve serious problems of the domain holders. He is the Association's contact person for domain registrars, and he also participates in further development of the registration system, especially in taking requests of registrars and domain holders into account. Martin is also a leader of security teams CZ.NIC-CSIRT and CSIRT.CZ. Martin spends his time off by cycling, skiing, and cooking. He is fluent in English.

Tomáš Fuňka, CFO

Tomáš Fuňka Tomáš Fuňka studied International Trade at the Faculty of International Relations of the University of Economics in Prague. After graduation from the University, he worked first in the banking sector, where he worked on financial planning and risk management. In 2006, he moved to the Crestyl development group, where he led the Controlling Department, later he was also responsible for project financing. Since 2015, he managed projects in the international CEE Bankwatch Network Association. Tomáš joined the CZ.NIC Association in 2019. As a CFO, he is in charge of planning, managing and coordinating the operation of the Association's financial system, including ensuring its economic efficiency. In his free time he takes care of his family, then he likes sport and traveling. Tomáš speaks fluent English and has passive knowledge of German.

Zdeněk Brůna, CTO

Zdeněk Brůna From 1994 to 2000 he studied Economics and Management in Electrical and Power Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague. Already during his studies, he started working for the company ICZ, where he worked as a project manager in the department of outsourcing services until 2003. Next step of his career was working for the company ACTIVE 24, in which Zdeněk first held a position of the Head of Server Hosting Division and a manager for major customers and later, since November 2005, of a Technical Director. Over the years, Zdeněk was active in the Associations CZ.NIC and NIX.CZ. In the Chamber of Registrars, he represented ACTIVE 24 and worked in the Collegium of CZ.NIC from late 2008 to December 2015. From June 2011 until the end of 2015, he worked in the Supervisory Board of the NIX.CZ peering point. Zdeněk has been working for CZ.NIC since January 1, 2016 as a Technical Director and is primarily responsible for the operation and development of the domain name registry and the MojeID service. In his free time, Zdeněk devotes himself to his family, cycling, organizing of orienteering competitions and visiting his cabin. Zdeněk speaks English and also German.

Tomáš Hála, CIO

Tomáš Hála Tomáš Hála is responsible for the teams of administrators who take care of development and operation of all server and network infrastructure in CZ.NIC. He studied computer technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University and then worked for 15 years at ACTIVE 24, where he first started as a Linux engineer and subsequently led one and later two administration teams and took care of the development, operation and security of infrastructure and services. As part of his work, he founded the first commercial CSIRT team in the Czech Republic and brought the company as a founding member to the FENIX project. For the last two years, he was responsible for cyber security of services for the entire CEE region within the growing hosting group which the company was part of, as well as the design and implementation of DNS anycast infrastructure for the entire hosting group for the operation of approximately 2M domains. He actively represented the company in the NIX.CZ Associations and the chamber of registrars of CZ.NIC, where he also worked in the board. He speaks fluent English and has a little of German and Spanish knowledge. In his free time, he takes care of his large family, occasionally does sports and travels.

Josef Chomyn, head of the research team (CZ.NIC Labs)

Josef Chomyn As the head of the CZ.NIC Laboratories, Josef Chomyn is responsible for a team that deals with development and research in the field of Internet technologies and security, as well as other generally beneficial projects, for example in the field of education. He studied computer science with a focus on networks and operating systems at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. He worked in technical and management positions at Internet providers and telecommunication companies. For many years, he worked in the management of the Czech neutral interconnection node NIX.CZ, first as a member of the board of directors, later as its chairman. In the years 2017-2022, he was a member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunications Authority. He spends his free time on climbing walls, he is also dedicated to this hobby as a certified instructor and trainer. His hobbies include mountains, traveling, geocaching and cooking. Josef speaks fluent English.

Michal Hrušecký, head of hardware development department

Michal Hrušecký Michal Hrušecký studied Informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. Already during his studies he started to work in SUSE Linux company, where he soon became a member of the community team. In 2012, he was one of the founders of the currently largest open-source Czech conference - LinuxDays. In 2015, he was elected a member of the openSUSE board for two years. Michal joined the CZ.NIC Association in 2016 in order to ensure the distribution of Turris OS for Turris routers. Since 2019 he has been leading the CZ.NIC hardware development department, especially the Turris project. Michal's interests include open-source, single board computers and travelling. Currently, he likes to spend most of his free time with his family. Michal speaks fluent English.

Tomasz Hatlapa, CMO

Tomász Hatlapa Tomasz Hatlapa graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics of the University of Economics in Prague and a Master's degree in Information Management with a minor specialization in Marketing at the Faculty of Business Administration. He has been working at CZ.NIC since 2009, when he started working in marketing. As Marketing Director he is responsible for all marketing support and communication of commercial projects of CZ.NIC. Over the years he has worked on many marketing campaigns and very successful crowdfunding projects. He is in charge of corporate identity rules and has also been involved in the creation of a large number of educational TV programs and publications. He is married and has two children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, going outdoors and spending time with his family. He is an occasional handyman, enjoys watching tennis or enjoying a coffee in a nice café. He is bilingual in his mother tongue Polish and Czech, speaks English and remembers basic French from school.

Kateřina Chmelová, CSO

Kateřina Chmelová Kateřina Chmelová graduated from several schools, such as SOŠ OOM in Brno, SOŠ TEGA Blansko or Sprach Institut in Heidelberg, Germany. She started her career at AAA Auto in Prague, where she gained experience in direct sales and customer service. She also worked in high management positions, for example at Liebherr, Einhell in Bavaria and Dell Technologies in Bratislava. At Dell, she successfully participated in international training programmes such as Dell Sales Talent Academy and the ISG Academy 2. For her work, she received the Bravo Award and the Cheers Award in 2022 and 2023. In her spare time, she enjoys her daughter, yoga, skiing and walking. She is fluent in German and speaks English.

Vilém Sládek, CCO

Vilém Sládek In his position as a PR manager, Vilém Sládek is in charge of the internal and external communication of CZ.NIC, event activities and the CZ.NIC Academy educational centre. He graduated from the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. During his studies he was a member of the regional team of the Mladá fronta DNES newspaper and participated in the organization of a series of cultural and non-profit events (Miss Academia, Literary May, Flower Day, etc.). After his graduation he worked for the Albatros publishing house and in the PR departments of EURO RSCG Prague (currently Havas Worldwide Prague) and Publicis Prague. He joined CZ.NIC in 2007. Vilém is a great fan of literature, running and softball. He speaks fluent English and has a passive knowledge of Hungarian.

Jaromír Talíř, Technical Fellow

Jaromír Talíř Jaromír Talíř is primarily responsible for the architecture and other technical aspects of the domain management system and the MojeID authentication service. Already during his studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague, Jaromír began to work as a programmer for Ipex a.s., the telecommunication company on a development of the internal information system. He held that position for eight years. He joined the CZ.NIC association in 2006. In the autumn 2016 he was appointed as one of the managers of the CENTR Technical Working Group. Jaromír spends his free time with sports (football, volleyball), ball-room dancing, and he is also interested in history. He is fluent in English.

Jaromír Novák, partner for relations with public administration

Jaromír Novák Jaromír Novák graduated from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno and the Faculty of Information Management at the University of Hradec Králové. In 2005, he joined the Ministry of Informatics of the Czech Republic (Department of Electronic Communications). After the cancellation of this department, he changed the position to Director of the Electronic Communications Department and then Director of the Digital Economy Section at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. In autumn of 2012, he was appointed a member of the Czech Telecommunication Office (CTO) by the Government of the Czech Republic. After that, he became Chairman of the CTO. Jaromír Novák resigned from the position of Chairman and Member of the CTO in January 2020. Jaromír joined the CZ.NIC Association in 2020 and his main duties comprise of monitoring changes in legislation concerning the Association, communication with state administration, local government and the European Union and searching other ways to work with public sector institutions. His hobbies include literature and modern technology.
