The Czech Republic has a nearly stable representative in the UN secretary-general’s advisory group. Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC association – the administrator of the Czech national domain – will enter his fourth year as a member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG), an advisory body of the UN general-secretary for the organisation of the Internet Governance Forum. Filip was chosen as a member of the advisory group for the first time in 2008. The unpaid members of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) conduct work for the benefit of the worldwide Internet community, representing the interests of government, the private sector and civic groups, including the academic and technical communities in all regions of the world.
MAG provides recommendations to the UN Secretariat headed by the secretary-general for the preparation of top meetings concerning Internet administration – the Internet Governance Forum. The Multistakeholder Advisory Group meets officially several times a year with representatives of the relevant inter-government organisation and the European Commission regularly in attendance. More information on the MAG is available at www.intgovforum.org.
