Prague 3 March 2010 – The Good Domain online campaign, which was launched last year by the CZ.NIC Association, has been awarded a Silver Nutcracker at this year’s presentation of prestigious advertising prizes (a Gold Nutcracker was not awarded in this category). The advertising campaign, created by the agency Scholz & Friends Praha, complements the association’s activities linked to awareness in the field of internet domains and the internet itself. The public could first meet Aleš Mokrý, the head of technical support and also the central figure in the campaign, on 9 March 2009. Alongside the internet microsite www.dobradomena.cz, a banner campaign, outside advertising, print ads and communication via social networks were included in the communication mix. The Good Domain project continues, in collaboration with the Association of Library and Information Professionals of the Czech Republic and in relation to the project March – Month of Readers. This started at the beginning of this week throughout the Czech Republic.

“The objective of the Good Domain campaign is to increase awareness about domains and support general computer literacy. Specifically, this means a brief, clear and, last but not least, also fun way of explaining the internet to the regular user, such as the advantages of your own domain, why you should register one and what you get out of domain ownership,” says Pavel Tůma, Director of Marketing and Communications at the CZ.NIC Association. “Together with this, we also want to explain how the actual registration is carried out, and that the entire process does not end with registration – that it is necessary to take care of the domain.”

Last year, several .CZ domain registrars joined the Good Domain project, offering specific instructions on how to register a domain with them step by step. You can find a list of these registrars at the address www.nic.cz.

The Good Domain campaign is not the only part of the CZ.NIC awareness program. Employees of the association give lectures about domains and the internet in secondary schools and universities, provide the opportunity for professional training on specialist technical courses Akademie CZ.NIC, present internet technology to the public at their own conferences (Internet a technologie 08, Internet a technologie 09), etc. Alongside these activities, the association publishes books via Edici CZ.NIC, which are freely available under the appropriate licence, and organize competitions for young and budding programmers (VIP – Vyvíjej, Inovuj, Programuj).
