After the start of active hostilities in Ukraine, the CZ.NIC association offered its support to the Hostmaster company, which is the manager of the top-level domain .UA, in order to transfer part of the systems of the Ukrainian domains registry to Czech data center and to create an authoritative DNS cluster for the .UA domain on the territory of the Czech Republic. Within this comprehensive project, which required cooperation with NIX.CZ experts, during this week, we plan to complete the works on the infrastructure, which is to be used as the basis to start full-fledged operation.

Our partners have made a significant contribution to implementation of the project. In a very short term, they were able to provide or rent the necessary equipment or ensure connection to the international networks. CZ.NIC were responsible for the server side of the project. They used their many years’ experience in building and operating a powerful domain registry and DNS infrastructure. The network-related part was taken care of by the experts of the NIX.CZ peering node, who also provided a 100 GB connectivity to their node.

“We are sincerely grateful to our Czech colleagues from CZ.NIC and NIX.CZ for the help in this difficult situation, with whom we keep warm relationships and usually meet and communicate during professional international forums,” said Hostmaster Director Oleh Levchenko.
