In the spring of this year, the CZ.NIC Association launched a campaign, the aim of which was not only to increase the quality of data in the register, but also to support the activities of the non-profit organizations ADRA, People in Need and Safety Hotline.

As part of this campaign, as a reward for verifying data in the register, the CZ.NIC Association offered holders of domains with the Czech national extension the opportunity to choose a contribution of one hundred crowns, which the Czech national domain administrator would send on their behalf to one of the three charities of their choice. The campaign has now ended and the CZ.NIC Association will contribute more than a quarter of a million crowns to the projects of three charitable organizations, all thanks to domain holders.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all domain holders who have chosen a charitable contribution as a reward for verifying the data. The total amount, which will now be distributed among the selected organizations, is 279,900 Czech crowns. We really appreciate the fact that domain holders have decided to help the entities that often lack funding. At the same time, I would also like to thank them for checking and updating the data in the registry, thus preventing potential problems associated with their domains in the future,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC.

At the end of September, CZK 128,000 was collected for the humanitarian organization People in Need, CZK 110,200 for the free Safety Hotline for crisis assistance, and CZK 44,600 for the ADRA Foundation.

It is important for the CZ.NIC Association and domain holders that the data listed in the domain registry is correct and up-to-date. Especially so that holders can receive relevant information about their domains in a timely manner. Most often, these are notifications on the domain expiration and thus the need to extend it.

Domain holders can continue to verify their contacts on the CZ.NIC website or use another option for this purpose. If mojeID users link their account to the National Identification Authority (NIA), their information will be updated automatically upon change.
