Prague, October 29 – For its security project Turris, the CZ.NIC Association got the IPACSO International Award in the category of Innovative Cyber Security or Privacy Research. The aim of this competition is to encourage innovative companies and innovators in the field of Internet technologies that focus primarily on security. The awards in the IPASCO competition were presented last week in Brussels. Representatives of the CZ.NIC Association prevailed against strong competition from all over Europe; their solution was one of 55 nominated. The Turris project was presented at a number of community forums both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Its popularity prompted the authors to expand the project, which is presented under the name Turris Omnia.

The IPACSO jury praised not only the uniqueness of the home router Turris and consistent support for open standards, but also its embedment in a broader system, including close cooperation with the National Security team CSIRT.CZ. Thanks to data from the Turris project, the team members could uncover several vulnerabilities and detect infection in networks of two dozen users of the Turris router.

“We greatly appreciate the IPACSO Award. We perceive the award for research in the field of security and privacy not only as an award for the Turris project, but also for our other activities in which this unique router is engaged. The Turris project is very attractive for the Internet community. We came across great interest in our solution not only at conferences held by organizations such as the IETF or ICANN, but, for example, also at the international OpenWrt Summit or the conference for open source solutions OSCON. We have been talking about the expansion of the Turris project called Turris Omnia for a long time. We are planning to bring you more news about it in the middle of the next month," said Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.

Europe is a world leader in security solutions for information and communication technologies, but many of these solutions are known only to a few specialists and experts. The IPASCO Association, whose members include leading European companies and universities, encourages innovators, entrepreneurs and established companies to share their projects and promote them to the users who are looking for innovative solutions.
