Registry system
The Distributed Domain Administration - New Generation (DSDng) system is used for administration of the .cz and 0.2.4.e164.arpa (ENUM) domains. The system was developed by CZ.NIC during 2006 and 2007. On 1/10/2007, the DSDng replaced the older DSD system. More informateion are available here.
Network infrastructure
The distributed registration system solution is deployed in two parallel and independent locations, with all network connections backed up by two independent routes. Both locations have their own independent connection both into the two peering centre nodes - NIX and to the abroad, both dual with IPv4 and IPv6 protocol.
Uninterrupted DNS operation is ensured by a set of secondary nameservers. For both zones administered by the register, these servers are at the two above locations and at other locations throughout Europe and world-wide, see the diagram below.
Platform diversity is key priority. The servers have different HW platforms (Intel x86/64, AMD64, Sun UltraSPARC), use different operating systems (Linux, OpenBSD, Solaris), secondary nameservers also have different DNS implementations (BIND and NSD). The network infrastructure in each of the two main locations is also based on different technology (Cisco, Juniper and Extreme Networks).
