CZ.NIC Enables Domain Holders to Block Their Data in the Central Registry
Prague, 10 June – The CZ.NIC association, administrator of the top-level .CZ domain, today announced extension of their domain administration system (DSDng) which can now be used by domain holders to block data on their respective domains, contacts and name server sets. The purpose of this system improvement is, among other things, to further increase the security of holder information as well as the entire .CZ domain registration and administration system.
Those who are interested can fill in a form at
www.nic.cz to apply for blocking of a domain, contact or name server set. This form needs to be confirmed either by a formally verified signature or qualified certificate and sent to the address of the association. Unblocking is done in the same way.
”It will be possible to block all objects, i.e. domains, contacts as well as name servers. Two options are prepared. If the given object is blocked for transfer, all changes will be possible with the exception of a transfer to another registrar. If the domain holder decides to block all changes, no change will be possible, including transfers, all changes inside the given object and deletion of information stored in the domain registry. Both options will block sending of e-mail messages with passports to the address stated in the registry, too,” says Martin Peterka, Director of Operations at CZ.NIC.
Unlike when requesting a passport, it will not be possible to perform these changes through a registrar. If the user wants to block/unlock the information, the association needs to be contacted directly.
Ondřej Filip, Managing Director at CZ.NIC, comments this improvement of the new registration system: ”We have taken this step to respond to the two most frequent remarks of domain holders. Holders complained about the impossibility to block changes of objects in the central registry and to block e-mail messages used to send transfer passwords.”
