The CZ.NIC association, administrator of the CZ national domain, announces exceeding of 300,000 registered CZ domains. In total, 18,216 CZ domains were registered in this year's first two months, equaling to the registration growth of almost 39 % in comparison with the same period of the last year.

"The fast accomplishment of the boundary of 300,000 registered CZ domains has been supported mainly by the lower wholesale registration price, dropping from 500 to 400 CZK from the beginning of this year. All domain registrars have responded to this price reduction," explained Ondřej Filip, director of the CZ.NIC association. "I believe that the further development of the wholesale price for the CZ domain registration, in connection with implementation of the new domain registration and administration system, will delight the domain holders."

From the total number of 36 available single-character domain names, all names are taken, as well as all two-letter combinations. From the total number of 1,296 available two-character domain names, 1,058 (81.64 %) are taken. Those who are interested in domain names comprising 3 characters have quite a wide choice of options – from the total number of 47,952 domain names, only 8,403 (17.52 %) are used. Two longest domain names in the CZ domain have 61 characters, followed by two 60-character domains.

The largest number of domains owned by a single entity is 570; 7 entities own over 300 domain names.

Over the last 6 months, the highest level of interest was raised by registration of the following recently released domain names: "cokolada.cz" (631 requests), "jazzclub.cz" (410 requests), and "labuznik.cz" (368 requests). The number of requests is the number of accepted applications for registration of a released domain name on the day when the registration became possible again.
