CZ.NIC Releases a New Pricelist
The CZ.NIC association, the administrator of the CZ national domain, has issued a new pricelist valid from 1 October 2007 in connection with the migration to a new Czech national domain registration system. From that date on, the wholesale price of the CZ domain registration will drop from the current CZK 400.00 to CZK 190.00. The end prices for domain holders are fixed by CZ domain registrars on the basis of their respective costs, margins + 19% VAT.
“The dramatic cut in the wholesale price of the CZ domain registration is possible thanks to the transfer to a new, much more efficient CZ domain administration system, which will be run directly by CZ.NIC”, Ondřej Filip, CZ.NIC Chief Executive Officer, said. “The transfer of the CZ domain administration, which has been outsourced, to the association will take place on 1 October this year and the new pricelist will become valid on the same day.”
Development of the CZ domain holding fee Although the fee has been steadily decreasing since 2004, this is the most radical price cut in the history of the CZ domain. The development of the annual CZ domain fee is shown in the following graph:
A new CZ domain administration system
The new CZ domain registration and administration system scheduled to be launched on 1 October 2007 comprises also a number of changes for the registrars, mainly in terms of the register functions. Run directly by CZ.NIC, the register will be able to respond to new requests from registrars and domain holders much more flexibly. The migration to a new system will simplify the entire CZ domain registration and administration process; the system will be more comfortable and user friendlier. The new domain registration and administration system has been developed and operated by CZ.NIC; it has been used for the registration of ENUM domains since September 2006.
Domain data check tool
Domain holders often forget to keep their contact details up to date. Incorrect or out-of-date data in the database can cause inconvenience to domain holders when extending their domain registrations or transferring their domains. CZ.NIC has launched a special website at http://migrace.nic.cz where domain holders can easily check on the status and accuracy of their contact details and which they can consult if seeking information about how and where any changes in their details can be made.
We will keep you informed about the progress of the CZ domain administration migration to the new system at the CZ.NIC website at http://www.nic.cz.
